We at Grand Haven Animal Hospital would like to thank all of our clients for their patronage. As you are aware, Governor Whitmer mandated a state-wide “Shelter-in-Place” order. This means that people are being asked to stay home unless essential services are needed. Veterinary care has been deemed essential in order to “sustain or protect life.” That being said, we would like to assure you that we are committed to your pets' health and well-being, even through this difficult time. However, we are following recommendations set into place by the CDC and AVMA in order to provide not only an enhanced level of safety for our staff, but for our clients as well. Our new protocols, as listed below, will take effect immediately:
Clients will not be allowed inside the clinic. All appointments will be scheduled as “Curbside” appointments. When you arrive at the clinic for your appointment, please remain in your car or outside and give us a call to let us know that you are here. One of our technicians will then get on the phone with you to obtain information regarding your pet's appointment. Once that has been completed, the technician will go out to the parking lot to retrieve your pet and bring him/her in for exam and treatment. After examination, the doctor will give you a call to discuss her findings and recommendations. Once you've discussed the treatment plan with the doctor you will be transferred to a receptionist to provide a credit card number over the phone for payment. After treatment has been completed the technician will bring your pet and any medications/products back out to you.
The same type of service will be utilized for clients that call requesting medication or food refills. Once you arrive to pick up the item, please call us to alert us of your presence and provide payment over the phone. We will then bring the products out to you.
In order to keep contact down to a minimum we will be utilizing a “no-touch” payment policy – credit/debit card or CareCredit payments provided over the phone will be the only form of payment accepted. Cash and checks will not be accepted at this time.
Our hours of operation will be reduced to Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Along with reduced hours, we are reducing the size of our staff and limiting the amount of appointments that we schedule per day. Because we are trying to limit the amount of foot traffic/potential exposure, please be aware that sick or injured patients will take precedence over a routine vaccine appointment. This means that any scheduled routine appointments may need to be postponed if a sick or injured pet ends up needing to come in.
This is a very difficult and uncertain time for all of us right now, but we're confident that, with your help and understanding, we will get through this. We ask that you please be patient with us as we try to navigate through this pandemic as safely as possible.
